What it entails:
Intention:
The individual intends to pray for forgiveness and redress for wrongs committed, especially those difficult to rectify directly.
Recitation:
It involves reciting specific prayers and surahs, often including Sura Fatiha (Al-Hamd) and Sura Ikhlas, in a specific number of rakat (units).
Dua:
A dua (supplication) for seeking forgiveness and redress is recited, often including verses from the supplications of Imam Zayn al-Abideen.
Redressing Wrongs:
The prayer is seen as a means of seeking Allah’s forgiveness and making amends for the rights of others that may have been violated.
Fulfilling Desires:
Some traditions also associate this prayer with fulfilling desires and seeking blessings.
How it’s performed:
4 Rakat Prayer: It is typically performed as a 4-rakat prayer, with specific recitations in each rakat.
Recitation in Each Rakat:
1st Rakat: Sura Fatiha followed by Sura Ikhlas 25 times.
2nd Rakat: Sura Fatiha followed by Sura Ikhlas 50 times.
3rd Rakat: Sura Fatiha followed by Sura Ikhlas 75 times.
4th Rakat: Sura Fatiha followed by Sura Ikhlas 100 times.
Tashahhud and Salam: Tashahhud and Salam are recited after the second and fourth rakats.
Recitation While Sitting: If unable to stand, the Sura Ikhlas can be recited while sitting.
Dua: After the prayer, a specific dua or supplication for seeking forgiveness and redressing wrongs is recited.
